Counselor’s Role
The school counselor helps students achieve their greatest potential by developing a comprehensive guidance plan based on the North Carolina Guidance Curriculum. This student-centered program is focused on three main areas of student development and growth:
Individual counseling, small group counseling, classroom guidance, and school-wide programs are all interventions used to positively affect student development and growth.
Parent consultation, referrals to outside community agencies, referrals to in-school services, and parent conferences are interventions used to assist parents in helping students succeed.
