Dillard Drive Elementary - Character Education
Dillard Drive is actively involved in the Wake County Character Education Program. Each monthly character trait is integrated into daily curriculum as well as school-wide programs. The monthly character traits are as follows:
| September: Responsibility |
October: Respect |
November: Courage |
| December: Kindness |
January: Self-Discipline |
February: Integrity |
| March: Perseverance |
April: Good Judgment |
May: Review of all traits |
Each month, your child’s teacher will deliver a lesson based on the character trait of the month. Students will also be recognized throughout the month with stars as they exhibit behavior that demonstrates the character trait. Some of the stars will be shared on the “Morning Show” so that all students at Dillard Drive can get ideas about specific behaviors that show character. Additionally, our very own character puppets will be discussing the character traits each month through puppet skits on the “Morning Show”.
Each month in the PTA newsletter, suggestions will be given on how parents can extend character traits into the home. It is hoped that the consistent encouragement to show good character will help our students develop all of the character traits. Additional suggestions on how families can incorporate character into their home routines can be shared if needed.
